Dinner at the Next Step Shelter

In November 2009, AMSA members and friends prepared and served food at the Next Step Shelter.  Located adjacent to the medical school in Kaka’ako, the Next Step Shelter serves the homeless in Hawaii.  Many JABSOM students also volunteer their time at the H.O.M.E. Project, which is a student-run free clinic staffed by UH premedical students, JABSOM medical students, resident physicians, and community attendings.

AMSA has also provided nutrition classes for residents in the past and is looking forward to work with Next Step in the 2010-2011 school year as well.
